A 40-year-old Murgon man has been charged with three counts of breaching a domestic violence order, and one count of wilful damage, after he allegedly threatened to burn down a woman’s house.<\/p>\n

Steven Schultz entered no plea when he appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court this afternoon at a bail hearing.<\/p>\n

Police Prosecutor Sgt Wayne Bushell opposed bail, saying Schultz had only been in Queensland for six months and these were his sixth breaches.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Mark Bucknall said Schultz was on bail when he allegedly committed these offences.<\/p>\n

He said police had alleged Schultz had bashed on the back door of the woman’s house, smashed a window and, after threatening to burn down the house, had held a lighter against the woodwork.<\/p>\n

The woman and her intellectually disabled daughter were in the home at the time.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Bucknall said Schultz had demonstrated a capacity to carry out a threat.<\/p>\n

“After threatening to do it, he went to her house and attempted to burn it down,” he said.<\/p>\n

He said Schultz was an unacceptable risk of committing further offences and to the welfare of the aggrieved woman.<\/p>\n

Bail was refused and he was remanded in custody to reappear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on December 19. \u00a0Outstanding charges from Murgon Court were also transferred to this date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
