The little orange kits are designed to get people of all ages thinking about disaster preparedness<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The South Burnett’s “Get Ready For Summer” program visited Murgon on Friday morning with the aim of building awareness and resilience in the local community.<\/p>\n

This was the second of the latest round of breakfasts organised by the South Burnett Regional Council in conjunction with the Department of Communities and local agencies.<\/p>\n

The Get Ready for Summer project was launched in Kingaroy as part of resilience week in October to raise awareness about the region’s susceptibility to fire, floods and storms.<\/p>\n

Local emergency services volunteers handed out “Be Disaster Ready” kits.<\/p>\n

There was also information for primary producers, who now have only until Friday, November 29, to access flood recovery funding.<\/p>\n

Cr Ros Heit there was a great turnout at the breakfast and all the disaster kits distributed.<\/p>\n

The project moved on to Blackbutt on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The last in the series will be held at the Wondai Markets on November 23.<\/p>\n
