The CEO of one of Australia’s largest rural philanthropic organisations came to the South Burnett last week as part of a five-day roadshow to visit local projects assisted by the group.<\/p>\n

The Foundation For Rural And Regional Renewal (FRRR) offers funding to groups in smaller regional communities.<\/p>\n

FRRR was established in 2000 to support the renewal of rural and regional communities in Australia through partnerships with the private sector, philanthropy and governments.<\/p>\n

In its first ten years, FRRR has distributed more than $25 million in grants and provided substantial capacity building support to community organisations across the nation.<\/p>\n

Last year it distributed $5.6 million worth of grants to rural and regional Australia.<\/p>\n

CEO Alexandra Gartmann and Natural Disaster Recovery Manager Annie Wright spoke to representatives from Meals on Wheels Kingaroy, The Pantry, the Burnett War Memorial, Queensland Dairy Museum (Murgon), Murgon SES, Blue Care Murgon and BIEDO.<\/p>\n

They also met over breakfast \u00a0with\u00a0representatives from the South Burnett’s fledgling Red Earth Community Foundation<\/a><\/strong> which is in the process of establishing its own philanthropic funding body in the local region.<\/p>\n

FRRR processed the donations on behalf of Red Earth for Mayor Wayne Kratzmann’s recent Flood Appeal.<\/p>\n

Red Earth is currently in the planning stages of hosting a “Building Rural Leaders”-type program in the South Burnett next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
