November 15, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

The South Burnett’s peak summer storm season isn’t far away now, and Cherbourg will begin planning for it with special “Get Ready Cherbourg Day” on Monday, November 25.<\/p>\n

The community event will be held at the Les Stewart Snr. Memorial Sports Centre, kicking of at 1:00pm and concluding with at concert by local band Muddy Flats at around 7:00pm.<\/p>\n

The aim of the day is to raise awareness about how to keep safe in an emergency and how to plan for fires, floods and storms, and demonstrations will be given by emergency services such as fire, ambulance, police and medevacs.<\/p>\n

And to keep children amused, there will be free rides and give-aways.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be a free barbecue running, along with other entertainment.<\/p>\n

The event follows a similar – and very successful – “Get Ready Cherbourg Day” held at Jack O’Chin Oval last November, and also mirrors a similar program being run by the neighbouring South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n
