No one hopes that the South Burnett is facing another super wet summer, but just in case, the Burnett Mary Regional Group is holding an irrigation and floodplain planning information day next month at Mondure.<\/p>\n

A BMRG spokesman said irrigation on floodplains can be a highly productive enterprise but the risks of flooding make planning farm layout and irrigation systems an important consideration, “economically, structurally and psychologically”.<\/p>\n

Guest speakers will be John Day, from BRMG; floodplain soil conservationists John McLatchey, Geoff Titmarsh and Clive Knowles-Jackson; \u00a0irrigation specialists Ross Warren, John Miller and Pat Daley; financial counsellor Alan Broome and Ross Anderson, from BIEDO.<\/p>\n

The day will also include a field walk to inspect two different types of irrigation systems: lateral and pivot.<\/p>\n

The information day, which has also been sponsored by the State and Federal governments, is free but bookings are essential for catering.<\/p>\n

It will be held from 10:00am-3:00pm on Wednesday, December 11, at Mondure Hall, and will include morning tea and lunch.<\/p>\n
