Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington is urging South Burnett residents to have input into the State Government’s “30 Year Electricity Strategy”.<\/p>\n

“One of the most common issues I\u2019m often asked about is electricity. With this in mind, I would like to encourage residents and businesses in the South Burnett to participate,” she said today.<\/p>\n

“Recently, our government released a Discussion Paper setting out a series of proposed actions and principles to address challenges in the electricity sector.<\/p>\n

“Our community can build a vision for the future involving a resilient, cost-effective and customer-focussed electricity sector.<\/p>\n

“Long-lasting reforms cannot happen at the flick of a switch and we need a long-term plan that supports our lifestyle and economy.<\/p>\n

“Queensland has changed so much in the past 30 years.<\/p>\n

“In our electricity use, our appliance consumption increased by 150 per cent.<\/p>\n

“Our peak demand has increased by 200 per cent and shifted from winter heating to summer cooling.<\/p>\n

“Almost 300,000 households now have solar PV systems.”<\/p>\n
