Kingaroy printmaker Carmel Nott<\/strong>\u00a0is the focus this month at the Bunya Forest Gallery<\/strong> on the Bunya Mountains.<\/p>\n

Her works are being featured in a special exhibition – which runs until July 15 – and she has been conducting workshops to help people learn more about print-making.<\/p>\n

Carmel held a number of \u00a0small workshops over the June long weekend and they proved so popular she will be returning for one day only during the school holidays, on Tuesday, June 26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bookings for this workshop are necessary. Phone Kay Joyce on (07) 4668-3020. The cost is $10 and all materialsare included.<\/p>\n

Carmel, \u00a0a former Wondai Art Gallery Acquisitive winner,\u00a0\u00a0says art provides her with an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of the Bunya Mountains rainforest.<\/p>\n

“Experiencing the Bunya Mountains forest enables us not only to wonder at its world of great richness, complexity and beauty, but also to go back in time and see something of Australia’s evolutionary past,” she said.<\/p>\n

Carmel has been working with woodcuts for a number of years to explore the beauty and stories of the mountains.<\/p>\n

However recently she has also been experimenting with etched aluminium plates and “exploring how the different media can contribute to the meaning and drama and message of a work”.<\/p>\n

Carmel is the second artist for 2012 to be featured at the Bunya Forest Gallery, following on from the successful exhibition by Cathy Keys<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
