As it turns out, a heck of a lot!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today &#8211; Saturday, October 19 &#8211; Nanango will be visiting Yarraman for Rotational Triples; the Pink Chicks at Durong will be holding a cancer fundraiser; at Kilcoy, the club will be holding Kay Avery Day, which is a fund- raiser for the Hospital Auxiliary; and Wondai will be contesting the Breathe Easy Carpet Cleaning Trophy.<\/p>\n<p>And tomorrow &#8211; Sunday, October 20 &#8211; Yarraman will be holding the Dudley Brown\/Ashley Memorial Day, an Open Fours competition with a 12:30 start<\/p>\n<p><center><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/center><strong>No big news from Yarraman &#8211; they\u2019ve gone all social down there &#8211; but a busload of 43 ladies from Wide Bay visited on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They dropped in to our Wild Horse studio first and I had a great chat with Raylee from Pialba and Kay from Burgowan about bowls notes.<\/p>\n<p>Then they filled the Yarraman green with social play and lunched with Yarraman ladies. Good to see some inter-district interaction.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday night social bowls is proving quite popular at Yarraman, and the ladies social each Wednesday morning brings them in too.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/center><strong>Kingaroy &#8211; what\u2019s been happening there???<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kingaroy were short of players last weekend with 12 members away in Pialba for the Pennants Final.<\/p>\n<p>Due to other commitments the team to Pialba was not full strength.<\/p>\n<p>The Kingaroy team only able to win 1 game but they acquitted themselves with some distinction against opposition chosen from a much larger pool of players.<\/p>\n<p>Back home on Sunday, and in the Triples<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dave Woods, Steve Vine, Val Jepperson 22 def. Robbie Johnson, Briggitte Kung, Beryl Woods 20<\/li>\n<li>Fred Keding, Filipe Munoz, Alan Irwin 19 drew. Charmaine Macleod, Eric Ford, Malcolm Macleod 19<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cheap Tuesday &#8211; on Tuesdays, naturally! &#8211; is also proving quite popular.<\/p>\n<p>Results:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Steve Carland, Bob Robinson 17 def. I&#8217;ll tidy that up next time.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/center><strong>Kilcoy news, and there&#8217;s quite a bit happening down there:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First, a big finish to the Corporate and Community Challenge when three teams finished on 13 points &#8211; the Games Director had the difficult task of a count back.<\/p>\n<p>Tree Change Realty collected the trophy and weekly winners on the last day were Julie Baird, Bill Baird, John and Margaret Worrall.<\/p>\n<p>The ladder ended up with Team Change Realty 13; J &amp; T Livestock 13; Kilcoy Hospital 13; Kilcoy Laundry 10; Ring Ins 10; Grey Nomads 10; Golf Club 7; and Lions Club 4.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament was sponsored by the Somerset Regional Council.<\/p>\n<p>Pub Day winners last Wednesday were Alan Thorpe&#8217;s team and Runner Ups were Peter Stanton&#8217;s team.<\/p>\n<p>And on Tuesday&#8217;s social day 19 players turned up.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Gray, Phyllis Coffee Harry McIllwain and Terry Pratten were the over all winners 22 &#8211; 15 against Noel Lanes (playing two positions) Lester Bechly and John Worrall.<\/p>\n<p>Star of the Green was won again by Jeff Welden defeating Margaret Worrall.<\/p>\n<p>Quite a bit coming up at Kilcoy too.<\/p>\n<p>Today is Kay Avery Day, supporting the Kilcoy Hospital Auxiliary; and next Tuesday is Presidents at Home Day\/ Birthday, with 14 visiting teams nominated so far. This will be followed by the Men&#8217;s Two Day Carnival on the 26th and 27th.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/center><strong>Esk is building up their frequent traveller points.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last Sunday virtually the whole club went to Windsor for their annual Noddy\u2019s Shield Challenge, which underwent a change of format this year: the usual triples were played but teams &#8211; other than the skips &#8211; were randomly drawn. Something different, eh??<\/p>\n<p>As things turned out, Esk skips won three out of five of their matches. But on the day Esk went down narrowly and handed the shield back.<\/p>\n<p>Next week several teams will be going to Gatton to their Pub Day and one team to Laidley for their Pub Day,<\/p>\n<p>And of course &#8211; barefoot bowls on Thursday nights!<\/p>\n<p><center><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/center><strong>Wondai news: last week I didn\u2019t have details of the winners of the Wondai Lady President\u2019s Day, but now I do.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The winning team was lead to skip Robin Diercke (Yarraman) Hazel Sippel (Goomeri) Barry Wengel (Durong) and Sylvia Hiltunen (Murgon).<\/p>\n<p>Runners-up the Wondai Ladies\u2019 official team of Hilda Wenck, Margaret Wyatt, Terry Kilford and Del Lane.<br \/>\nWell done Wondai ladies!<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Wondai, it&#8217;s Trophy Day there today: the Breathe Easy Carpet Cleaning Trophy, a mixed one game over 21 ends, with a start time of 1pm.<\/p>\n<p>And a reminder: the Ladies Perpetual Cup is being held on Thursday 24th .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is happening in bowls this weekend?
