Students from St John\u2019s Lutheran School have been congratulated by staff and parents for their great efforts in this year\u2019s NAPLAN tests, held in May.<\/p>\n

The results were recently released to schools and to parents.<\/p>\n

School Principal Mrs Helen Folker said she was thrilled to read the impressive results.<\/p>\n

“The students’ results were well above the State average in every area tested,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Students are tested in the areas of reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and numeracy across these three year levels.<\/p>\n

“Over the last number of years our results have been consistently higher in most areas compared with like-sized local schools however this year\u2019s results were quite exceptional on comparison!<\/p>\n

“Our staff have been implementing the National Curriculum since the beginning of 2011 and the thoughtful delivery of this curriculum alongside the increased use of technology such as tablets and creative, hands-on activities has ensured that our students have been able to demonstrate their understanding to a high degree.<\/p>\n

“Staff scaffold children\u2019s learning across all curriculum areas to create experiences that are interesting but at the same time challenging.<\/p>\n

“I regularly visit classrooms and I see children engaged in their learning and developing critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n

“Our harmonious classrooms create an environment that is conducive to children\u2019s learning. Children are on task and working co-operatively to share their learning in a supportive environment.<\/p>\n

“When we have visitors to the school they often comment about the quiet classrooms and the way the children are on task.<\/p>\n

“Staff have undertaken many hours of professional development to keep up to date with the latest technologies.<\/p>\n

“Many of our staff attended an Australian Conference in Lutheran Education over the last holiday break that had a strong focus on technology.<\/p>\n

“This knowledge allows them to create activities to support the children\u2019s learning journey.<\/p>\n

“Our staff prepared the students well for these tests, so they knew the expectations and what the testing environment would be like.<\/p>\n

“We look forward to seeing our current Year 7 students continue these great results as they head into Year 9 in 2015.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
