Lady President Dell Lane\u2019s official team was runners-up.<\/p>\n<p><center><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/center><strong>What a big weekend they had in Kingaroy last Saturday and Sunday! Twenty-six teams from throughout South-East Queensland converged on the peanut capital for their Open Mixed Fours Carnival.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Numbers were slightly down on previous years due to Pennant commitments on the Sunshine and Gold Coast. However the competition was strong. It was amazing the number of teams going through undefeated; a number of State were players taking part.<\/p>\n<p>The competition comprised of 5 x 18 end games with the winners being determined by the number of games won combined with the number of ends won. The prize money went down to 12th place.<\/p>\n<p>They certainly came in from everywhere. Ivy\u2019s team got off to a very slow start and after seven ends were down 2-9. At 15 ends it was level at 13 all, \u00a0but from there it was all Ivy. Her team took over and they skipped away to win 18-15.<\/p>\n<p>Social play on the day:<br \/>\nEileen Elliott, Allison Anderson and John Moore 8 defeated Eunice Smith, Yvonne Schultz and Neil Johnston 7 \u2013 that was a close one<br \/>\nRoy Wrembreck Glenda Wolski 12 defeated Kay Dugdell and John Beattie 8<br \/>\nMargaret Willoughby and Jim LeCoq 16 defeated Jenny Moore and Horst Meyer 15 \u2013 that was a close game also \u2013 and \u2013 the Ladies were the skips.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>At Nanango, it&#8217;s been a little bit warm on the greens this week. The green keeper is getting it ready for one of the big events of the year, the Men\u2019s Fours Carnival on the weekend of October 26-27.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Friday of last week, \u00a0Scroungers \u00a0results (some of the top scroungers must have been away, not big scores): \u00a0Bbest effort was Terry Howard with 59 and Lew Saunders on 53.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, \u00a0Men\u2019s Social, \u00a0Felipe Munoz &amp; Jim Steverink 25 pts<br \/>\nLes Camps &amp; Warren Arthur 21 pts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>News from Kilcoy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Four ladies went on a visit to Condamine District. All returned in great spirits with some having well wins. Quote from one of the ladies \u201cIt was most interesting to see how the other clubs manage their individual problems&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday Bowls (16 players), winners on the day: \u00a0Leigh Irwin, Dennis Thomson, Liz Frawley and Terry Pratten with a 21 &#8211; 16 win over Jenny Edwards, Nelly Herbert John Worrall and Col Ferguson.<\/p>\n<p>Star of the Green was taken out by Jeff Welden defeating Nelly Herbert.<\/p>\n<p>Next week he plays Margaret Worrall.<\/p>\n<p>A reminder to players &#8230; it&#8217;s the last game of the Corporate and Community Challenge tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A couple of date claimers:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Dudley Brown Ashley Emmert Memorial Day in Yarraman has had a date change.<\/p>\n<p>To accommodate interstate visitors for this popular event on Yarraman\u2019s calendar it has been moved to next Sunday, October 20. \u00a0There will be nominated teams of four, 2 rounds of 13 ends and afternoon tea at interval.<\/p>\n<p>At Wondai on Thursday, October 24, it&#8217;s the Wondai Ladies Perpetual Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Peranga Club \u2013 2 rounds of bowls and a barbecue tea on October 26, 3:00pm start. It&#8217;s the Memorial Day for Tuppy Gseidle and a fundraiser for CareFlight Rescue<\/p>\n<p>At Nanango, the Men\u2019s Rosebowl will be played on October 26-27 with a Calcutta at 11:30am on the Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Melbourne Cup Day Bowls will be played at Yarraman (November 5, of course) \u2013 one game of 18 ends then watch the action from Flemington.
