Firefighters were kept busy throughout the South Burnett on Monday with a number of grass fires posing a danger in the hot and windy conditions.<\/p>\n

Vehicles, machinery and a load of timber were destroyed by fire on a property at Buttsworth Road, Goodger, on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Seventeen fire crews, including rural and urban crews, were called to the fire at 4:15pm and found several pieces of machinery already alight.<\/p>\n

The blaze, which was creating a large amount of smoke, was also burning close to a house and a shed.<\/p>\n

The fire crews contained the fire by 5:10pm. The house and shed were protected but several pieces of machinery were destroyed.<\/p>\n

At Booie, 15 fire crews attended a grass fire in Faulkners Road which was reported about 4:45pm on Monday.<\/p>\n

The fire was burning near a house but there was no immediate threat and was extinguished.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, firefighters were called to Harris Road and Silky Oak Drive in Kingaroy to put out a small grass fire at the foot of a power pole.<\/p>\n

An emergency services spokesman said this fire is believed to have started from a spark from a transformer.<\/p>\n

And last night at Cooyar, a burning rubbish dump on The Palms Road sparked a grass fire about 8:30pm.<\/p>\n

Five rural crews attended and the fire was extinguished by 10:00pm.<\/p>\n
