Police have charged two Kingaroy teenagers after a stolen car rammed into the wall of the Carrolls Buildings overnight, leaving a gaping hole.<\/p>\n

The blue Mazda mounted the footpath after the driver apparently lost control on the corner, smashing into the brickwork of the historic building on the corner of King and Mary streets, Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

A hole the width of the car penetrated the double brickwork and sprayed debris into the hallway inside, part of the offices of JA Carroll and Son solicitors.<\/p>\n

As well as smashing through mortar and bricks, the crash dislodged wall panelling and a door.<\/p>\n

Conveyancing clerk Suzanne Perrett will notice a few changes to her office when she arrives for work tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Cherry and Denis Carroll inspected the damage this morning and found bits and pieces of the vehicle, including a wheelcover, at the scene.<\/p>\n

They said a witness had told them the vehicle struck the wall about 1:30am, had then reversed and continued up the hill and “did a wheelie” in Freeman’s former auction yard.<\/p>\n

“It’s not a very nice way for the building to celebrate its 100th birthday,” Cherry said.<\/p>\n

The Carroll’s Buildings were built by Denis’ grandfather Dan Carroll in 1913. The room that the vehicle smashed into was part of the former ES&A Bank.<\/p>\n
