Gloria\u2019s team fought back well &#8211; took the mat &#8211; and won eight of the remaining nine ends \u2013 but lost two on the last end going down 21-17.<\/p>\n<p>Well done both teams \u2013 you kept the gallery watching intently.<\/p>\n<p>While the triples were being played, there were two rinks of social triples.<\/p>\n<p>Eunice Smith, Horst Meyer and Neil Johnson defeated Margaret Willoughby, Eileen Elliott and John Moore 26-15.<\/p>\n<p>Katie Anderson, Ron Lucas and Di Currell 28 defeated Jenny Moore, Alison Anderson and Brian Dugdell 28-11.<\/p>\n<p>Night bowls was Thursday of last week. With some of the regulars away on holidays, only two rinks were played. There were trophies: \u00a0Winning team &#8211; Tom Clarke and John Moore 12 defeated Kerry Wyvill and Brian Dugdell 8;\u00a0Runners-up &#8211; Alison Anderson, Arthur Smith, Neil Johnston 15 defeated Marge Clarke, Eunice Smith, George Wolski 5.<\/p>\n<p>PS. Yarraman are buying their greenkeeper John Moore a new mower and a roller with grant just announced. No excuses now for a slow green!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Peranga hosted their annual Rose Bowl on Thursday and Hazel tells me that it was a great day for Yarraman players.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I know it was a great day for all players \u2013 a beautiful green. But it was a sad day for Peranga Ladies. It was their last official meet as the Ladies Club is folding due declining membership.<\/p>\n<p>Winners and Grinners for the day \u2013 Gloria Anderson, Neil Currell, Robyn Diercke and Jenny Moore.<\/p>\n<p>Runner- up were a composite team skipped by Doreen Fitch.Her team included Rob Borey, Sid Cook and Barbara Glass.<\/p>\n<p>The Encouragement award went to another Yarraman team skipped by Ivy Wrembreck. Her team included Di Currell, Eunice Smith and Yvonne Schultz.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget the Memorial Day for Tuppy Gscheidle on Saturday, October 26. It is a fundraiser for CareFlight who do a marvellous job flying patients to urgent medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kingaroy hosted another interesting week of bowls.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last Saturday the Club hosted members of the Wide Bay Past Presidents Association. Visiting members and their partners combined with Kingaroy bowlers to play Triples and Fours.<\/p>\n<p>In the triples:\u00a0Charmaine Macleod, Dot Sturton, Kev Raffin 19 defeated Brucie Purdie, Marsha Marsh, George Deans 12.<\/p>\n<p>In the fours:\u00a0Les Hamlet, Paul Marychurch, Maryann Read, Owen Maughan 21 defeated Dave Woods, Alan Driver, Nev Rose, Danny Holligan 16;\u00a0Les Idians, John Luke, Fay Hodges, Ray Maclaren 23 defeated Maree Millard, Maureen Kemp, Gwen Luke, Kev Rathbone 12;\u00a0Des Richards, Peter Moar, Brian Wenke, Bob Robinson, 21 defeated Ted Crawford, Alan Rogerson, Geoff Clutterbuck, Barry Tryhorn, 14;\u00a0Mal Weber, Val Jeppersen, Lorna Rathbone, Malcolm Macleod, 20 defeated Marj Moore, May Stark, Di Smith, Ron Bishop 10;\u00a0Ray Ash, Stella Peterson, Jack Connolly, Phil Kemp 25 defeated Bryan Williams, Ladda Purdie, Dawn Rose, John May 16<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the club\u2019s Men&#8217;s &#8216;B&#8217; Pairs were finalised. A couple of great matches attracted a gallery.<br \/>\nIn the semin-finals:\u00a0Peter Neilsen, Erris Vale, 17 defeated Paul \u00a0 Marychurch, Bob Robinson 13;\u00a0Geoff Clutterbuck, Ben Pratap 20 defeated Harry Read, Steve Carland 13<\/p>\n<p>And in the final: Peter Neilsen, Erris Vale 21 defeated Geoff Clutterbuck, Ben Pratap 15.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of interesting Social Triples were played on Sunday.\u00a0Robbie Johnson, Bob Robinson, Alan Irwin 33 defeated Glad Slatter, Des Richards, Dave Barwick 12; Maree Millard, Fred Keding, Ray Maclaren 33 defeated Brigitt Kung, Col Kratzmann, John Coppard 18<\/p>\n<p>Cheap Tuesday \u2013 on Tuesday of course \u2013 scores of note:\u00a0Darcy Munro, Ray Crawford 13 defeated Peter Neisen, Erris Vale 8;\u00a0Darren Porter, John Coppard 26 defeated Maree Millard, Bob Robinson 15;\u00a0Briggitte Kung, Fred Keding 18 defeated Keith Kratzmann, Bruce Johnson 10;\u00a0Dave Barwick, Greg Schulz 14 defeated Kev Raffin, Alan Irwin 9.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, there was \u00a0a big roll-up\u00a0at the club.\u00a0Des Richards was \u00a0celebrating his 90th Birthday. Des is a regular bowler playing 2 or 3 times a week and has lost none of the skills that has made him a champion bowler over more than 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>Triples competition was played to celebrate (4 points for a win and 1 point for each end won). Overall winners were Lindy Clutterbuck, Wanda Carland, Danny Holligan 17 points.<\/p>\n<p>Today and tomorrow the club\u2019s Mixed Fours Carnival will be played; \u00a026 teams from throughout\u00a0South East\u00a0have nominated. There&#8217;ll be five games over two days. Winners will be determined by the number of games won, \u00a0plus the combined number of ends won.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0* * *<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s see what has been\u00a0 happening at Nanango <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last Thursday Night &#8211; Three bowl pairs &#8211; Lew Saunders and Ben Pratap 18pts headed the list.<\/p>\n<p>Last\u00a0 Friday &#8211; Scroungers were at it again and Ben Pratap was at it again. He topped the scroungers scoreboard with 73, Lew Saunders, 67, was next best.<\/p>\n<p>Last \u00a0Tuesday &#8211; \u00a0Men&#8217;s Social &#8211; Kevin Kleinhanns &amp; Nev Lawrence 23pts. Two games \u2013 12 ends \u2013 Random selection \u2013 that always leads to catching up on old friends and making new ones . Winners were Karen from Esk and Linda with Dennis from Crows Nest.<\/p>\n<p>A bus load from Esk is travelling to Windsor for the Noddy\u2019s Shield comp next Sunday. That is always a popular day trip.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations for the 2013\/2014 season are now being called. Play on the nominated date, substitute \u00a0&#8211; or forfeit. That\u2019s the way to do it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Toogoolawah \u2013 plenty happening down there.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The second semi-final of the club championship mixed pairs: in a nail-biting last end Tyrone Richter and Marion Deane defated Hartley Johnstone and Kim Dorman 19-18. What a match that was.
