Regular dances at the Booie Hall will continue for the time being following a public meeting held on Saturday.<\/p>\n

There had been concern that the dances – which have been a tradition at the hall for more than 80 years – may have had to fold through lack of numbers.<\/p>\n

But Booie Hall Committee president David Muller told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> today the committee had decided to “keep it open at the moment”.<\/p>\n

He said attendance numbers had dropped right away earlier this year but had picked up after a meeting on July 6.<\/p>\n

After that meeting, numbers had increased to about 40 but had now fallen to about 35 a dance.<\/p>\n

“We really need to get 52 people at least to every dance to make sure that it stays open,” David said.<\/p>\n

“Costs are rising, public liability is rising, insurance is rising.”<\/p>\n

Dances at the Booie Hall are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month from 8:00pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
