Blackbutt GP Dr Daphene Connor says she is about to receive mentorship from one of Australia’s leading acupuncturists.<\/p>\n

Dr Ian Relf, the president of the Australian Medical Acupuncture College, will travel from Melbourne to Blackbutt next month.<\/p>\n

Dr Connor has already completed a Diploma in Medical Acupuncture and is currently mid-way through her Fellowship with the Australian Medical Acupuncture College.<\/p>\n

Dr Relf, as convener of the Fellowship Course for the Australian Medical Acupuncture College, has committed to travel Australia wide to support this year\u2019s round of Fellowship students.<\/p>\n

Dr Connor says she is very honoured to have Dr Relf at her surgery in Blackbutt in early October.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Australian Medical Acupuncture College (AMAC) was formed in 1973 and has branches in all States,” Dr Relf said.<\/p>\n

“The State branches run both introductory and advanced courses in acupuncture for medical practitioners and the Federal body conducts a Fellowship examination annually.<\/p>\n

“It is for this reason that I was pleased to accept Dr Connor\u2019s invitation to spend some time with her and her patients in Blackbutt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Relf said that the role of the AMAC was to promote acupuncture to medical practitioners as a safe, effective and unique form of treatment within a framework of western medicine.<\/p>\n

Medical Acupuncture is a different approach to medical care. The term used to describe acupuncture performed by a doctor trained and licensed in Western medicine, but who has also had training in acupuncture as a specialty practice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
