September 25, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

A large grass fire burning in remote country near Elgin Vale is now burning safely within containment lines.<\/p>\n

Firefighters were called to the scene about 1:30pm on Tuesday after smoke was seen by a fire spotter aircraft.<\/p>\n

Local landholders and Queensland Parks and Wildlife staff joined urban and rural brigades at the scene to control the fire, which was burning on three fronts.<\/p>\n

Smoke in the Wondai area this afternoon came from back-burning in the forestry area east of Charlestown.<\/p>\n

This fire was first reported to emergency services on Saturday and has since been controlled within containment lines which have been strengthened by the back-burning.<\/p>\n

Fire crews spent the day mopping up and monitoring the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
