Goomeri pool will re-open for summer this week after an $84,000 renovation in the wake of the Australia Day floods.<\/p>\n

The pool complex, located in Moore Street, suffered extensive damage to its canteen and grounds when fast-flowing floodwaters rushed through the area.<\/p>\n

The water was flowing so strongly the fences around the pool were flattened.<\/p>\n

The 25m main pool and the small wading pool were left filled with debris and mud.<\/p>\n

The repairs, completed by Gympie Regional Council at a cost of more than $84,000, are designed to make the pools and canteen more resilient to future floods.<\/p>\n

The old canteen was stripped bare for the renovations. It has been tiled and repainted, and stainless steel benches installed.<\/p>\n

The two swimming pools have also been repainted and tiled.<\/p>\n
