{"id":44857,"date":"2013-09-19T09:20:50","date_gmt":"2013-09-18T23:20:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=44857"},"modified":"2020-09-11T12:28:14","modified_gmt":"2020-09-11T02:28:14","slug":"developers-fees-to-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2013\/09\/19\/developers-fees-to-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Developers&#8217; Fees To Rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_19749\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19749\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/kratzmann-200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/kratzmann-200.jpg\" alt=\"SBRC Mayor Wayne Kratzmann\" title=\"Wayne Kratzmann\" width=\"200\" height=\"318\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19749\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/kratzmann-200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/kratzmann-200-188x300.jpg 188w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-19749\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann (Photo: SBRC)<\/figcaption><\/figure><strong>September 19, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some developers look set to pay increased infrastructure charges as the South Burnett Regional Council begins a five-year process on November 1 to make charges consistent across the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe South Burnett has anomalies across the region in regards to charges for development,\u201d Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur infrastructure charges for creating new residential lots range from $2241 in Murgon through to $9757 in Kingaroy. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These inconsistencies in charges are a hangover from before amalgamation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCouncil is of the view that we can\u2019t change this overnight, so the changes will be staggered over many years. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our charges are also a lot less than the maximum we could charge according to the State Government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The State Government established an Infrastructure Charges Taskforce in 2010 to simplify charges and to provide greater certainty for developers. <\/p>\n<p>The State Planning Regulatory Provision outlines that the maximum  a local government can recover from a development connecting to council infrastructure is $28,000 for a three-bedroom home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese charges are a once-off charge only payable when a new development is undertaken and are paid by the developer when the land is sub-divided,\u201d South Burnett Manager of Planning, Land Management and Community Chris Du Plesis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe charges only relate to a contribution for water supply, sewerage and parks as other infrastructure is funded via other means. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The home owner does not pay this charge again when a house is built or when it is sold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Kratzmann said that to smooth the transition to the new infrastructure charges, Council has adopted a &#8220;price path&#8221; over five years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cSouth Burnett Regional Council\u2019s charges will still be much lower than our neighbouring regions,&#8221; he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Western Downs currently charges $22,000 and Somerset charges $15,215.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCharges are reviewed on an annual basis and we, as a Council, will liaise with developers and get a feel for how the effect that these changes may be making on development in the region before any further change is made.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Developers look set to pay increased infrastructure charges as the South Burnett Regional Council begins a five-year process on November 1 to make charges consistent across the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":19748,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,22,3],"tags":[1131],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
