You’d better get in quick for the next Kumbia Brain Drain, almost half the tables for 2014 are already booked!<\/p>\n

The recent Brain Drain, which had a “Once Upon A Time Theme”, attracted a fairyland full of nursery rhyme characters to the Kumbia Memorial Hall.<\/p>\n

Teresa Francis – or “Tinkerbell” – said organisers were extremely pleased with the results of the trivia night, with more than $9000 raised for the Kumbia State School.<\/p>\n

“This is the first time ever in the 20 years of the Brain Drain that we have tables booked for the next year,” Teresa said.<\/p>\n

“We have 16 tables booked out of the 40.”<\/p>\n

No theme has been chosen yet for next year but it’s going to have to be good to outdo the costumes from this year’s fundraiser.<\/p>\n

There were witches, dwarfs, the whole crew from the Wizard of Oz… and much, much more.<\/p>\n

There was also live entertainment; Gabby Unverzagt sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and Rhonda “Cinderella” Smith had the audience in stitches with her re-telling of the classic tale.<\/p>\n

Several prizes were awarded in the evening: Little Bit Lush was the Best Dressed Team; Best Dressed Male was Neil Kath and\u00a0Best Dressed Female was Cassie Smith.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Accounting & Tax team, “Fairy Inappropriate”, had the Best Team Name.<\/p>\n

Teresa said Tinkerbell was kept busy on the night “fining” people for using their mobile phones (local MP Deb Frecklington was caught twice checking the Federal Election results) or swearing.<\/p>\n

The organising committee will meet on Wednesday to finalise the figures from the night and start planning next year’s event.<\/p>\n
