In ancient times, celebrations were held all across the world to mark the departure of Winter and the arrival of Spring.<\/p>\n

And this is a tradition that seems to be continuing in the South Burnett which now holds two big fetes every year which mark the same thing.<\/p>\n

Last Saturday – on the final day of Winter – Kingaroy’s Anglican Church held its annual fete in the church grounds in Alford Street.<\/p>\n

While numbers were slightly down on last year, Fr Tony Swansson said he was very pleased with the turnout and everyone appeared to be having a good time.<\/p>\n

And this Friday, September 6, attention will switch to Murgon when St Joseph’s School in Angel Avenue holds its own annual School Fete from 5:30pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fete is a popular fundraiser for the school.<\/p>\n

Last year it drew more than 350 people and this year the school hopes for even more.<\/p>\n

The fete will feature performances by students from all grades as well as a wide range of family entertainment including laser skirmish, a Haunted House, Mr Squirt, a jumping castle, a merry-go-round and putt putt golf.<\/p>\n

South Burnett band Bruzz will also be on hand to provide live entertainment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
