Alex and Cassie Firman … successful on and off the sports field<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

St Mary\u2019s Catholic College students Alex and Cassie Firman are kicking goals everywhere they go.<\/p>\n

This year Cassie was selected for the Queensland Country Schools Futsal team to compete at the National Futsal Titles after being noticed at the Southern Schools competition at Cornubia earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Cassie turned down the opportunity to remain focused on study, club football and netball.<\/p>\n

But the college will still be sending seven students to these titles in September.<\/p>\n

Cassie played her first year of senior women\u2019s football for Wests Club Kingaroy this year and made it to the finals, where they were defeated by a red hot Nanango side.<\/p>\n

Cassie is also part of the Wide Bay Academy for Netball and is going to the State trials shortly.<\/p>\n

Alex plays for the South West Queensland U14 side in the National Premier League.<\/p>\n

Alex was chosen as one of nine players from his district to trial for the Queensland Country Team in Townsville last week.<\/p>\n

Alex was successful and will now travel to the National Titles at Coffs Harbour over the September Holidays.<\/p>\n

Being involved in music and all things sport in school has not detracted from Alex and Cassie\u2019s academic results; they achieve very good results at school.<\/p>\n

This brother and sister combination are also very modest and don\u2019t seek the recognition, they enjoy what they do and do it all very well.<\/p>\n

Their parents Kirsten and Rob Firman are obviously very supportive.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud of the level of commitment and effort Alex and Cassie put into their sport,\u201d Kirsten said.<\/p>\n

St Mary’s principal Michael Nayler said the college was very proud of both Alex and Cassie\u2019s sporting and academic achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
