Kingaroy’s inaugural Father’s Day Picnic In The Park attracted a small number of families on Sunday but the response was enough for organisers to feel confident about starting to plan next year’s day.<\/p>\n

The event was organised by a volunteer committee led by Kingaroy resident Barry Krosch, and was designed to provide a simple and inexpensive way for families to celebrate Father’s Day and recognise the importance of fathers in the community.<\/p>\n

A range of performers provided live entertainment from 10:00am to 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

They included Grant Jeppeson and Vashti Bruyn; the South Burnett Caledonian Pipes and Drums; \u00a0Blackbutt singers Connie and Amanda Sempf; and members of the South Burnett Community Orchestra String Ensemble.<\/p>\n

Funky Fairy Floss was also on hand to serve up fairy floss, popcorn and balloons for children.<\/p>\n

The reaction by everyone there was very positive.<\/p>\n

Barry told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0today that the organising committee believed there was potential for the Father’s Day Picnic to get much bigger.<\/p>\n

The group has already committed to holding a bigger – and more heavily promoted – event on September 7, 2014. \u00a0He said all the artists were keen to come back next year.<\/p>\n
