Nanango’s murals will be refreshed as part of ambitious plans to improve the town’s streetscapes.<\/p>\n

Natural Resources portfolio chair Cr Kathy Duff announced today that the original artist, Mr Willie Nelson, has accepted an offer to refresh all the murals in the town.<\/p>\n

“This is perfect timing with the other streetscape work that is about to be undertaken – a refresh of the murals will add to the look of the whole town,” Cr Duff said.<\/p>\n

The council was able to secure fundsn from the Government’s Proceeds of Crime fund to cover the cost of the artist.<\/p>\n

Cr Duff also thanked South Burnett CTC, who will cover the cost of the paint.<\/p>\n

In addition to the murals, Mr Nelson has also agreed to work with young people in Nanango, Kingaroy and Murgon to create graffiti art on the horizontal climbing walls the council have erected in Pioneer Park, the River Road Park and the new Murgon Skate park.<\/p>\n

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the project was a great opportunity for South Burnett youth to work closely with a talented artist.<\/p>\n

“Council encourages our budding artists to make the most of this opportunity to work with Mr Nelson.”<\/p>\n
