Sport and recreation clubs throughout the South Burnett are being encouraged to apply for funding to improve their services and facilities, with Round 2 of the State Government’s “Get Going” and “Get Playing” programs open for applications.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the Get Going and Get Playing grants were programs that make up the government\u2019s “Get in the Game” initiative.<\/p>\n

She said the initial response from Round 1 was so overwhelming that Get in the Game funding had been increased from $16 million over three years to almost $48 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the Nanango Electorate, 11 sporting clubs were successful in the first round of the Get Going program, such as the Kingaroy Junior Soccer Club, Kingaroy Touch Association and Burnett Softball Association,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“In total, more than $57,000 was awarded to our local sporting clubs, and I want to ensure our local clubs are once again in the running for this great funding opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Get Going provides grants up to $10,000 for items and activities to assist clubs in attracting and retaining members and Get Playing provides grants up to $100,000 to sport and recreation organisations for facility development.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage all sport and recreation clubs in the South Burnett to consider applying for a Get Going or Get Playing grant to help achieve their clubs future plans,\u201d Deb said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Newman Government is keen to encourage more Queenslanders to get involved in sport and recreation as it promotes a healthier lifestyle and strengthens communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
