The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery has been awarded $6412 from the State Government for a school holidays program featuring a digital artist.<\/p>\n

“Kingaroy Art Gallery will put its funding towards an ‘artist in residence’ in the Youth Arts Space over a five-day period in the June-July school holidays,” Arts Minister Ros Bates said.<\/p>\n

“Digital artist Donna Maree Robinson will share her skills with local youth to help them create digital works which will then be framed and exhibited at the gallery in November.”<\/p>\n

Ms Bates said the Regional Galleries Partnership Program was funded by Arts Queensland under the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, a Queensland and Federal Government initiative.<\/p>\n

“The Regional Galleries Partnership Program aims to increase job opportunities for regional arts industry professionals, expand the programming potential of regional galleries and encourage collaboration between them,” she said.<\/p>\n

“It also helps support individual artists and attracts more artists to take up residencies in regional communities and schools.”<\/p>\n

UPDATE June 18:<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council announced today the workshop would be free to attend and would enable participants to make their own pieces of art which would be distributed on completion of the workshop.<\/p>\n

The workshop will run from June 25\u201329 (for up to 15 people only) with an opening exhibition on June 29 at 6:00pm. The workshop is suited to those aged 12-17 and all participants will have to attend every day.<\/p>\n
