Blackbutt Singers and the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club have donated $2000 to the Mayor\u2019s Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal.<\/p>\n

The Blackbutt Singers held a “Fighting for our Farmers Benefit Concert” in July to raise money for our local farmers in need.<\/p>\n

They joined forces with the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club to host the Benefit Concert that recognised the important role that farmers provide to the community, State and nation.<\/p>\n

Blackbutt Singers president Maree Hammond said they received a South Burnett Regional Council Community Assistance Grant to hold their annual concert.<\/p>\n

After the floods this year the singers decided to host the concert when say saw the need to help local farmers in desperate times.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re big believers in what goes around, comes around. So the generous assistance that the South Burnett Regional Council gave us meant we were able to fundraise back into our community to help our farmers,\u201d Maree said.<\/p>\n

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the flood appeal has shown “time and time again” that the community wanted to help their neighbours and ensure that our farmers were looked after.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe concert was another great occasion in Blackbutt and a great tribute to people who generate their income from the land,\u201d Cr Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

More than $50,000 has already been distributed as part of the Mayor\u2019s Red Earth Flood Appeal to residents of the South Burnett region who were adversely affected directly or significantly in some way by the floods experienced early in the 2013 year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are still receiving applications and are pleased that the funds are still assisting our affected South Burnett residents,” Mayor Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n
