{"id":41524,"date":"2013-08-14T16:16:27","date_gmt":"2013-08-14T06:16:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=41524"},"modified":"2020-12-14T12:50:08","modified_gmt":"2020-12-14T02:50:08","slug":"circles-help-to-build-strength","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2013\/08\/14\/circles-help-to-build-strength\/","title":{"rendered":"Circles Help To Build Strength"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_41528\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41528\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130814wellbeing.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-41528\" title=\"20130814 Circles of Wellbeing\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130814wellbeing.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130814wellbeing.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130814wellbeing-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41528\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Positive Parenting Program graduate Erica Gyemore gets a big wrap from facilitators Michell Forster and Bronwyn Murray; Ms Forster would now like to form Circles of Wellbeing at Cherbourg if enough women would like to take part<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>August 14, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>by Marcus Priaulx<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cherbourg.qld.gov.au\/PACE\/PaCE_home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barambah PaCE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Barambah PaCE is bringing its Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) facilitator, Michell Forster, back to town later this month to host &#8220;Circles of Wellbeing&#8221; get-together for women as a way to help women heal, de-stress and unload their burdens.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will be able to sit or do an activity of their choosing such as art, collage, weaving, cooking, bushwalking etc while talking about their daily stresses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIssues are raised and it lets people get things out by talking about them in a non-confronting, safe environment,\u201d Ms Forster said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy doing that we begin to counsel ourselves; we feel as if we\u2019re being listened to and valued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe brainstorm and think about things and make ourselves feel more fulfilled; we start to connect with ourselves and put things in perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Circles of Wellbeing allow people to find purpose, unload their burdens and feel lighter in their walk through life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s about healing yourself,\u201d Ms Forster said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe have choices. We don\u2019t need to sit with stresses and burdens. We can come together, share, talk, laugh, cry and start to heal ourselves with more traditional ways of healing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re not healthy how can you care for somebody else and help them to be happy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Forster has had great success with Circles of Wellbeing in other locations.<\/p>\n<p>While working with people from the Stolen Generation for eight weeks she saw them transform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey started to come out of their shell, think about themselves and got a sense of purpose for life and what they wanted to do,\u201d Ms Forster said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne lady went to uni, another enrolled in an art class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGenerally, they became happier and everyone around them benefited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt heals the heart and for our kids\u2019 future, we need to do that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to stop the trauma and recreate ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Circles of Wellbeing will be held from 10:00am\u2013noon at The Ration Shed Museum in Cherbourg on August 27 and at the Cherbourg Training Rooms on September 11, or a location of participants\u2019 choice should it be available.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Women who would like to take part can ring Barambah PaCE on (07) 4168-2330 or speak to Jennifer Juderjahn as she does her Cherbourg Mobile Library on a Tuesday.
