The Thrashers’ defence kept their goal line unbreached\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The South Burnett Thrashers’ 2013 rugby union campaign has come to a close after a bruising encounter against a strong Condamine side in Kingaroy on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The low-scoring match – the final score was 9-5 – highlighted the defensive strengths of the South Burnett side which successfully protected their line for the full 80 minutes.<\/p>\n

Condamine’s only points came from a penalty kick and a drop goal, booted from about 40m out.<\/p>\n

The Thrashers’ points came from a try to hooker Joel Wolski.<\/p>\n

Club president Shane O’Malley said he was very proud of the team.<\/p>\n

“The boys played exceptionally well,” he said.<\/p>\n

Shane said it was the best season in B Grade that the club had enjoyed and provided a firm foundation to build upon for next year.<\/p>\n

He was also very appreciative of the support the club had received this year.<\/p>\n

A good crowd rolled up to St Mary’s Oval for the critical match.<\/p>\n

“It was the best crowd all season,” Shane said.<\/p>\n

“We really appreciate the great support we received.”<\/p>\n

Best players for the Thrashers were fly-half Pierre Gorka, Joel Wolski and Scott Sims in the back-row.<\/p>\n

After the main match, an Over-35s game was played between the South Burnett Bashers and the Condamine Codgers.<\/p>\n

“It was a bit of fun but it was good to see that it spurred some competition,” Shane said.<\/p>\n
