Builders will be starting work soon on a $2 million upgrade to Kingaroy Hospital.<\/p>\n

The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service (DDHHS) said today J.M Kelly (Project Builders) Pty Ltd had already established a site office at the hospital.<\/p>\n

The “Rural and Remote Infrastructure Rectification Works” project will include upgrades to the fire protection systems, fire hydrant and firehose reel systems, and electrical systems to improve fire and electrical safety.<\/p>\n

DDHHS Cluster Operations Manager Peta Rutherford said most of the works would be occurring within hospital areas occupied by staff and patients, so careful planning was required to ensure minimal interruption to hospital operations.<\/p>\n

J.M. Kelly have begun to meet with local staff and project managers to formally plan and stage the works.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is expected the works will take approximately 16 weeks and this will include a detailed planning and programming exercise,” Ms Rutherford said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhilst planning will aim to keep disruptions to a minimum and patients and visitors are asked to adhere to all directional signage and ensure they do not enter into site work areas.\u201d<\/p>\n
