Kingaroy’s Jemima Larkin is “a wonderful, natural, warm and cheerful early childhood educator”, and now she has an award from the Rotary Club of Kingaroy to prove it.<\/p>\n

Jemima, who works at the Goodstart Early Learning Centre in Ivy Street, Kingaroy, has been named the club’s inaugural “Pride of Workmanship” award winner.<\/p>\n

Each month, the public has been invited to nominate an outstanding individual from within the Kingaroy region in a particular work category.<\/p>\n

The July vocation was \u201cChild Care Worker\u201d. \u00a0This month it is \u201cTransport\u201d and the September category will be \u201cHealth Care\u201d.<\/p>\n

Jemima has been working at the Goodstart Early Learning Centre for four years. The centre looks after up to 75 children per day.<\/p>\n

She is in the “toddler room” section with children aged from 15 months to two years.<\/p>\n

“I love it here,” she said. “It’s a nice group of people to work with.”<\/p>\n

Her nomination for the Rotary award noted how Jemima had grown and developed in her role as a childcare worker.<\/p>\n

“She has great insight into children and always puts the child’s needs first,” the nomination read.<\/p>\n

“Jemima loves children and people. She works hard and always tries to lift the spirits of those around her.<\/p>\n

“There are many parts to an early childhood educator’s day that require them to be a role model at all times; caring, encouraging, enhancing understanding and providing a safe and stimulating environment.<\/p>\n

“Jemima’s creativity, fun, laughter and play does all this and more for children of all ages in her care.”<\/p>\n

Jemima was educated locally, at Kingaroy State School and home-schooled. She then earned a Certificate III in Childcare at Kingaroy TAFE.<\/p>\n
