The\u00a0Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO) says a survey it will conduct of sporting and recreational clubs will assist in the future support and sustainability of sport in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

The survey is being funded through the BIEDO Sport and Recreation project.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council\u2019s sport spokesman Cr Barry Green said council was working closely with BIEDO’s Club Development Officer Nicole O\u2019Brien, and fully supported the survey.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are trying to find out through the survey the health of our clubs and associations. The survey will ascertain how many volunteers, members and funds South Burnett clubs have got and where there are gaps that need to be addressed,\u201d Cr Green said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil supports BIEDO\u2019s survey as our sporting and recreation clubs and associations are an integral part of the health and well being of our region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are 4500 children in the South Burnett in the 7-14 year old range. Over half of those either don\u2019t play sport or have difficulty playing sport. We want to encourage these kids to be active and healthy by participating in sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms O\u2019Brien thanked council for supporting the survey.<\/p>\n

\u201cBIEDO is focussed on improving the sustainability of sporting clubs in the South Burnett. This survey helps us establish what local sporting clubs are currently doing well and will identify where are the areas we can offer support,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann encouraged all sport and recreational clubs and association to take the time to fill in the survey.<\/p>\n

The survey will be available on BIEDO\u2019s website<\/a> and Council\u2019s website<\/a> in coming weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
