The South Burnett Regional Council announced today that the fundraising from the Mayor\u2019s Charity Gala Ball has now been finalised with a total of $30,932 raised for charities in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were overwhelmed with the support we received from the community for the Charity Ball,\u201d Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal was to raise funds for our local charities and to have raised over $30,000 is an amazing effort from all involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started organizing the ball before the Australia Day floods. We are humbled that after such a devastating natural disaster, South Burnett businesses and residents were still able to support the event.\u201d<\/p>\n

The funds were raised from sponsorship, raffles and auctions that were held on the evening.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe auctions and raffles were well supported by all of those that attended. The highlight of the night was James Morrison and the band,” Mayor Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ball will now become an annual event. We have received lots of positive feedback from those that attended.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hall was at its capacity this year and we anticipate that the demand will be just as strong next year.<\/p>\n

“Even though the night is a great excuse to dress up we are very focused on our goal of raising money. Our aim for next year will be to raise more than $31,000 for South Burnett charities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Council will be announcing during the next few weeks how charities can apply for some of these funds.<\/p>\n
