About 60 friends, family members and art lovers attended the Wondai Regional Art Gallery’s August exhibition opening on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The centrepiece of the new exhibition is “Paint What You Love”, a collection of recent works by popular Wondai artist Graham Mitchell who is possibly better known as the chef extraordinaire at nearby Dimities Cottage.<\/p>\n

Graham’s works lined the walls of the Alison Iszlaub Main Gallery – and while most are floral still lifes, there is also a smattering of landscapes and works on other themes to catch the eye.<\/p>\n

The Front Gallery houses “Pieces Of My Heart”, a photographic exhibition by Cloyna photographer Roberta Schablon featuring 31 photos drawn from a trip to Europe, her family and her home.<\/p>\n

It’s Ms Schablon’s first exhibition in the region, and her work spans everything from striking architectural shapes through to macro photography and portraiture.<\/p>\n

And for further variety, the Rear Gallery has a small retrospective exhibition of works by Kingaroy artist Deidre Amos, some of which are more than two decades old.<\/p>\n

Ms Amos will be mounting a major exhibition of her more recent works at the Gallery in March next year.<\/p>\n

As always, socialising was a popular pastime on opening night and guests took the opportunity to chat with one another, sip Captain’s Paddock wines and sample the hot and cold finger foods whipped up by the Gallery’s kitchen volunteers.<\/p>\n

The exhibition was officially opened by Gallery founder Alison Iszlaub, who spoke warmly of her long friendship with Graham Mitchell and the great contribution he’s made to the Wondai community over many years – both in the arts and in business.<\/p>\n

She also spoke highly of the other two artists in the exhibition and said she looked forward to seeing more of their work in future.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will remain on show from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily until the end of the month.<\/p>\n

Admission is free.<\/p>\n
