Apart from the thousands of service hours put in by the Kingaroy Apex club since 1954 in support of the community, there has always been a healthy social aspect to the club.<\/p>\n

As with all service clubs, any community funds raised are never spent on social activities.<\/p>\n

Recently eight hearty Life and Past members attended the 40th annual Apex fishing trip to Inskip Point.<\/p>\n

There may no longer be an active club in Kingaroy but the enduring friendships gained in service continue. Most of us don\u2019t see each other for 12 months but reunite for this event.<\/p>\n

There wasn\u2019t a lot of fish caught but a few sand crabs were taken home to our families.<\/p>\n

Each year we compete for the \u201cBS” Trophy.<\/p>\n

The rules are unwritten and hotly debated over who the trophy should be awarded to.<\/p>\n

Life Member Rick Ada, now living in Brisbane, caught a 73cm, 6lb flathead on the Friday of the four-day event.<\/p>\n

He was consistently berated, in good humour, as to why he shouldn\u2019t receive the trophy. Last year\u2019s winner Peter McLennan finally conceded and presented Rick with the Trophy on Monday morning<\/p>\n

The oldest Life Member on the trip was Trevor \u201cDicko\u201d Dickson at 78 who now resides at Bribie Island.<\/p>\n

Trevor has attended 38 of the 40 trips and has been providore for many years. He recalls the biggest trip he catered for was when 32 attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
