Meandu celebrates its 150th … million tonne of coal, that is<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

An amazing 150 million tonnes of coal have been mined from Stanwell\u2019s Meandu Mine over the past 30 years.<\/p>\n

Stanwell General Manager of Coal Generation and Mining Production Phil David said the milestone was reached last month after three decades of providing coal for the nearby Tarong and Tarong North power stations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeandu Mine should be proud of the safe and reliable way that it has provided coal to the Tarong Power Stations,\u201d Mr David said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn has helped the power stations keep the lights on and industry working in Queensland all through that time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI congratulate the management and employees who have delivered this excellent result.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd with enough coal to last at least until 2037, Meandu Mine is going to be working hard and providing local jobs for many more years.\u201d<\/p>\n

There are 300 million tonnes of coal left at Meandu Mine and mine operators are targeting the “best” 130 million tonnes.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeandu Mine is currently providing around four million tonnes of coal each year,\u201d Mr David said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mine is a very important asset for Stanwell but also for the South Burnett and Queensland,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
