Leah Purcell ... returning home to open skate park<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

August 2, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leading Australian actress – and former Murgon resident – Leah Purcell will be the special guest at the official opening of the new Murgon Skate Park later this month.<\/p>\n

The opening will take place on Friday, August 23, at 1:00pm and Leah will be coming from Sydney for the event.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council allocated $150,000 to build the skate park, a shade shed and an adjacent climbing wall.<\/p>\n

Gore Street will be closed off for the official opening.<\/p>\n

Students from Murgon and Cherbourg schools have been invited to attend so there should be about 600 students and their teachers present.<\/p>\n

Representatives from both the South Burnett and Cherbourg councils will also be there.<\/p>\n

Activities on the day will include a skateboarding demonstration as well as a performance by the junior Wakka Wakka dancers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main focus will be celebrating the valuable contributions young people make to our community,\u201d Cr Kathy Duff said.<\/p>\n
