Well-known local educator Uncle Eric Law, from Murgon, was one of seven Queenslanders who were presented with awards recently as part of Catholic Education Week.<\/p>\n

The former director of Nurunderi TAFE received the “Aunty Joan Hendriks Spirit of Catholic Education Award for Reconciliation” for his work at St Joseph\u2019s School at Murgon.<\/p>\n

The awards were presented by Queensland Governor Penelope Wensley following the official launch of Catholic Education Week by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Oudeman at St Mary\u2019s College, Ipswich.<\/p>\n

Catholic Education Week provides an opportunity for Catholic schools to share with the wider community what they are doing with their school.<\/p>\n

The Spirit of Catholic Education Awards recognise staff members, parents, clergy or volunteers who are making an outstanding contribution to Catholic education.<\/p>\n

A Catholic Education spokesman said Eric, along with his wife Shirley and daughter Nikki, had worked tirelessly at St Joseph\u2019s to improve both Indigenous and non-Indigenous educational outcomes.<\/p>\n
