The Kingaroy-Memerambi RSL Sub-Branch’s plan to erect a statue of a digger to mark the centenary of the Gallipoli landing in 2015 received a boost today with news that a funding application had been successful.<\/p>\n

Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott said a $4000 grant to the sub-branch had been approved to erect a soldier statue at the Kingaroy War Memorial.<\/p>\n

The funding was under the Federal Government’s “Saluting Their Service” commemorations program.<\/p>\n

The Burnett War Museum, located at Kingaroy Airport, was also successful under the program. <\/p>\n

\u201c(It) was awarded a $2285 grant to erect four interpretative signage plaques,” Mr Scott said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI congratulate the sub-branch, the memorial and the community for their commitment to honouring the local servicemen and women to ensure those who have served and sacrificed will not be forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n
