{"id":39868,"date":"2013-07-26T16:50:07","date_gmt":"2013-07-26T06:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=39868"},"modified":"2025-09-24T13:01:26","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T03:01:26","slug":"council-ballot-on-september-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2013\/07\/26\/council-ballot-on-september-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Council Ballot On September 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>July 26, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The by-election to fill the vacant councillor&#8217;s position in Division 6 of the South Burnett Regional Council will be held on September 7 &#8230; unless the Federal Election gets called on that date.<\/p>\n<p>And in good news for voters, Council CEO Ken McLoughlin confirmed today the ballot would be conducted by post which means voters won&#8217;t have to front up to a polling station.<\/p>\n<p>The Queensland Electoral Commission will post ballot slips to all eligible voters within the Division.<\/p>\n<p>Mr McLoughlin said the only hitch could occur if Prime Minister Kevin Rudd decides to hold the Federal Election on the same date.<\/p>\n<p>If this occurred, the Council by-election would be postponed to a date to be fixed.<\/p>\n<p>The vacancy in Division 6 &#8211; which covers most of the former Wondai Shire &#8211; was created when Cr Cheryl Dalton resigned earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The timetable for the election is:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The electoral roll for Division 6 voters will close at 5:00pm on Friday, August 2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Nominations for the vacant position will close at noon the following Friday, August 9.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ballot materials will be sent to voters through the mail after the close of nominations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Votes will start being counted on Saturday, September 7.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>However final postal votes will be accepted up until Tuesday, September 17.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Further information is available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecq.qld.gov.au\/2013LG.aspx?id=10376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Electoral Commission Queensland&#8217;s website<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>[Updated July 28, 2013]<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The by-election to fill the vacant councillor&#8217;s position in Division 6 of the South Burnett Regional Council will be held on September 7 &#8230; unless the Federal Election gets called on that date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":292810,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3],"tags":[1131],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
