Kingaroy’s new $3.5 million ambulance station is rapidly taking shape in Kent Street and has just passed an important milestone.<\/p>\n

Installation of the roof over the ambulance bay area began on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Site manager Stephen Haugh, from Hutchinson Builders, said he hoped to have the building finished by Christmas and ready for the service to move into by early 2014.<\/p>\n

However, the project hasn’t been without its challenges.<\/p>\n

After the demolition of the old building in April, 3000 cu metres of soil had to be dug out and removed to be replaced with decomposing granite to provide a solid foundation for the new building.<\/p>\n

Two sewer lines also had to be relocated, a job that was completed by local Kingaroy business\u00a0Fiedler Brothers Plumbing.<\/p>\n

There are between 10 and 12 workers on site daily.<\/p>\n

$2 million was allocated for the completion of the project in the State Government in the 2013-14 State Budget; on top of $1.5 million in the 2012-13 Budget.<\/p>\n
