Months of hard work by a small committee of Kingaroy State High School students will come to fruition next Thursday (August 1) at the school’s annual Flair concert.<\/p>\n

The concert is a fundraiser for the school’s Chaplaincy program and features musical and dancing performances by students from Years 8-12.<\/p>\n

The organising committee consists of school captains Sam Johnston and Maddy Payne, and vice-captains Lauren Cross and Jason Stephens.<\/p>\n

“We’ve been working at it for most of the year,” Lauren said.<\/p>\n

“But it’s been getting more intense the closer we get.”<\/p>\n

About 40 acts nominated which the committee had to pare back for the concert.<\/p>\n

This process took four weeks of auditions and was a tough job.<\/p>\n

“Some were good enough but for the sake of variety of types of performance, we couldn’t put them in,” Lauren said.<\/p>\n

The concert will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall and if previous years are any indication, the hall will be packed.<\/p>\n

Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start. Entry is $4 for adults and children or $12 for a family of four.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Entertainment will be provided by a wide range of different acts, including the school’s Stage Band and well-known local performers (and KSHS students) flautist Leah Noll and singer Tori Somers.<\/p>\n

Music teacher Matt Phillips will also be performing (the tip at this stage is that he may be playing his new banjo).<\/p>\n

Brothers Reuben and Indigo Vandenberg-Dodt will also be singing (as separate acts).<\/p>\n

Dancing displays will be performed by Years 9 and 12, and the combined Years 8-12 team, “The Dance Krew”.<\/p>\n

The Years 10-12 “Men’s Choir” will also be singing (and dancing).<\/p>\n

There will also be a number of duets: Maddy Payne and Laura McNamara on saxophone, and Cainen Davies and Elliott Carey with guitar.<\/p>\n

Year 12 students Fraser Matthew and Lachlan Hill and their band “Heartfelt” will also be “rocking the house”.<\/p>\n

The canteen will be open on the night, and manned by the School Social Committee. It will be selling soft drinks, chips and chocolate bars.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
