An excited crowd packed the Kingaroy Art Gallery on Saturday morning for the opening of its July exhibition.<\/p>\n

This month’s main show features the works of five different local and visiting artists – Kingaroy mother and daughter team Jenny and Rachel Gemmell; Sunshine Coast artist Trish Robson; and Toowoomba’s Fiona Cockfield and Michael Bishop.<\/p>\n

All five artists have completely different styles (four are painters; Rachel is a photographer) and the net effect is an exhibition full of vibrant colour, diversity and style.<\/p>\n

The rear gallery, meanwhile, features a new exhibition of paper tole artworks by Kingaroy’s Rosemarie Matthews-Frederick; and the front gallery displays new works executed in a variety of media by members of the Jumping Ants Arts Group.<\/p>\n

Last month’s entries in the Council’s recent Youth Digital Art competition will remain on display in the Youth Gallery for a further four weeks.<\/p>\n

Outgoing SBRC Cr Cheryl Dalton performed the official opening.<\/p>\n

Cr Dalton has been chair of the region’s Arts and Culture Portfolio for several years and is also the current head of the Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund committee.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will remain on display at the Gallery from 9:00am to 4:30pm Mondays to Fridays and 10:00am to 4:00pm on weekends until the end of the month. Admission is free.<\/strong><\/p>\n
