At the sod-turning ceremony on Tuesday afternoon … wielding the shovels were Kingaroy-Memerambi Sub-Branch president Barry Offer, Cr Deb Dennien, Steven Nousala (Oly Homes), Cr Danita Potter and Sub-Branch secretary Steve Reynolds<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

September 29, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first sod was turned on Tuesday in a vacant block of land for an exciting new project in Kingaroy … but in reality construction has already begun!<\/p>\n

The Don Davey OAM Veterans and Community Centre will be located in Haly Street, opposite Memorial Park.<\/p>\n

The modular building is being built by Oly Homes at Cooroy and is getting close to completion.<\/p>\n

Oly Homes general manager Steven Nousala said the kitchen had already been installed and the tilers were now working inside the building.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The building (see photos, below) will be delivered to Haly Street in six pieces on six trucks.<\/p>\n

The only work which will required on site – apart from the connection of services – will be the laying of concrete for the piers which will lift the building 800mm above the ground, well clear of any possible overflow from the nearby stormwater drain.<\/p>\n

The land was donated to the Sub-Branch by the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

The project also received two grants in April under the State Government\u2019s Honouring Our Veterans program:<\/strong><\/p>\n
