South Burnett’s Lee Powell came home with a bronze medal from the recent Multi Disability Lawn Bowls State Championships in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

Lee, who is supported by South Burnett Community Services (SBCS), and his pairs partner Bruce Smallburn won a bronze medal in the Men’s Pairs competition.<\/p>\n

<\/b>SBCS team leader Leesa Osborne said lawn bowls was much more than a sport for Lee … it was a way to challenge himself, connect with others and build a sense of belonging.<\/b><\/p>\n

She said Lee had also forged several meaningful friendships with fellow competitors who shared his passion for the sport.<\/p>\n

“One fellow bowler has been particularly impressed by Lee\u2019s commitment and potential, offering to coach and mentor him in the future,” Leesa said.<\/p>\n

“This is a wonderful opportunity for Lee to continue developing his skills.”<\/p>\n

Bowls Queensland has run the Multi-Disability State Championships since 2011.<\/p>\n

This year they were held from August 3-6.<\/p>\n
