Member for Flynn Colin Boyce has warned his LNP colleague, Premier David Crisafulli, to scrap his “net zero by 2050” policy or face “political peril”.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe net zero argument is the principal driver of the whole cost-of-living issue,\u201d Mr Boyce said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything becomes more expensive with the net zero by 2050 policy.”<\/p>\n

The Federal MP said Mr Crisafulli had argued last week argued that renewable energy was bringing down the price of wholesale power.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis may be so however, it is the retail cost of power that concerns consumers, both industrial, business and domestic,\u201d Mr Boyce said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAustralia is sacrificing its living standards and industrial capacity to achieve nothing in terms of the rest of the word. It is high time our political leaders understand this and formulate energy policy that is in Queensland and Australia\u2019s best interest, from a practical point of view, not from an ideological point of view.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is one of the reasons One Nation has gained so much popularity. If any of my political colleagues refuse to understand this, it is to their political peril.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are more than 100 projects at various stages of approval in the electorate of Flynn, and the majority of my constituents are opposed to these projects which are destroying the landscape, flora and fauna and agricultural land in its path.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe renewable energy industry is turning agricultural land into industrial energy zones that have little benefit to the affected communities. In terms of percentage of profit that is returned to small communities, it is very little.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we have the Federal Labor Government propping up these projects with a guaranteed return through the Capacity Investment Scheme \u2013 again with taxpayers’ money.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the GenCost 2025-26 Report by CSIRO stated that if emissions targets were removed, coal generation was the cost-competitive bulk energy option.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy constituents in Flynn already know this. They support coal-fired power as it\u2019s the cheapest base load power Queensland can provide.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
