Attorney-General Deb Frecklington has made “the difficult decision” not to order an inquest into the disappearance of Sandrine Jourdan who went missing in 2012.<\/p>\n

Ms Jourdan, 37, was last seen at a friend\u2019s house in Tomlinson Road, Tullawong – in the Caboolture area – on July 13, 2012.<\/p>\n

At the time police said she was known to frequent camping grounds in the Caboolture, Kilcoy, Moreton Island, Kenilworth and the Sunshine Coast areas.<\/p>\n

However, detectives at Caboolture CIB also believed she was familiar with the Murgon, Kingaroy and Wilkesdale areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

An e-Petition with 1222 signatures requested the Attorney-General convey to the Queensland Coroner a request by Ms Jourdan’s family for a full public coronial inquest to examine all evidence (including new evidence), forensics and witness accounts.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Mrs Frecklington said she offered her sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ms Jourdan who were “understandably distressed by her disappearance”.<\/p>\n

“A coronial investigation into Ms Jourdan’s disappearance was completed in 2016,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“In 2023, the Coroners Court re-opened the coronial investigation. This investigation included having the Queensland Police Service conduct reviews of the information obtained since the original coronial investigation and undertake further inquiries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“In March 2026, Deputy State Coroner Gallagher finalised the reopened coronial investigation.<\/p>\n

“Amended findings were issued to family members of Ms Jourdan, including Ms Christine James who is the principal petitioner for this e-Petition.<\/p>\n

“The Deputy State Coroner declined to convene an inquest into Ms Jourdan’s disappearance.<\/p>\n

“I have considered the two coronial investigations, multiple QPS investigations into Ms Jourdan’s disappearance, and the many requests about this matter made directly to me.<\/p>\n

“I have made the difficult decision not to direct an investigation or inquest be undertaken by the State Coroner at this time, as it is very unlikely to result in different coronial findings from those made very recently.”<\/p>\n
