Kingaroy Men’s Shed president Eric Ford has impressed local businesspeople with all the activities undertaken by his members.<\/p>\n

The Men’s Shed hosted the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s June meet’n’greet at their large work shed near Kingaroy Airport.<\/p>\n

The large shed was officially opened last year and since then has provided the Men’s Shed members with much more space for their projects.<\/p>\n

Eric said the group’s history dated back to 2015 when a steering committee was formed.<\/p>\n

He said the Shed provided men with somewhere to go and something to do after they had retired, instead of “sitting in the lounge chair and watching the midday movie”.<\/p>\n

“It’s all about mental health,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It’s a place where you can work alongside other people and if you want to talk about your problems you can do so.”<\/p>\n

Some of the projects they have completed over the years include tables and chairs for BaconFest, picnic tables for the Bunya Mountains, wooden toys, pink pigs … an even a high chair for a dog.<\/p>\n

More than 60 KCCI members and other businesspeople attended the meet’n’greet.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Other guest speakers were Kym Kanofski, from the Department of Trade, Employment and Training, and Danielle Maudsley, from accountants Findex Kingaroy, who explained expected Federal Government changes to Capital Gains Tax and family trusts.<\/p>\n
