South Burnett Regional Council adopted a new register of fees and charges for 2026-27 at its meeting on Wednesday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett Regional Council has adopted a new register of fees and charges for 2026-27, a necessary step ahead of it bringing down its annual Budget on July 15 .<\/p>\n

At Wednesday’s Council meeting, Mayor Kathy Duff said Council’s fees and charges would be rising by an average 2.7 per cent, less than the current CPI.<\/p>\n

They will take effect from July 1.<\/p>\n

Mayor Duff said some fees only affect a very small number of people while some will affect many people, for example dog registrations.<\/p>\n

Dog registration renewals, which are usually issued in September, will rise between 50 cents and $4.00, except for regulated dogs which rise between $5.00 and $10.00.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mayor Duff said some charges, for example at the tourist facilities at the dams, have risen more because they are required to be run on a commercial basis.<\/p>\n

Accommodation fees at Bjelke-Petersen and Boondooma Dam have increased by varying amounts, but generally no more than $10.00 a night for individuals or couples.<\/p>\n

Cemetery charges have also risen, with purchasing or reserving a plot rising from $840 to $900.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Adult burials will rise from $2310 to $2500; and children’s burials from $925 to $1000.<\/p>\n

Entry charges at Council’s swimming pools throughout the region will remain unchanged.<\/p>\n

A Council media release stated that of the 864 fees and charges, five had been reduced and 65 had remained the same.<\/p>\n

The new fees and charges were approved 6-1, with Cr Heath Sander voting against them.<\/p>\n

One of the new charges introduced for 2026-27 follows changes in the operating model at the Coolabunia Saleyards.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Council has taken over responsibility for the supply and feeding of livestock from July 1, 2026.<\/p>\n

A new livestock feeding charge will take effect: Rhodes Grass round bales $110.00 (inc. GST) per bale; and small square bales $22.00 (inc. GST) per bale.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
