June 16, 2026<\/b><\/p>\n

A Blackbutt police officer has been praised after helping rescue a family dog from a house fire in Blackbutt North earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to Myrtle Court about 6:40am on June 2 after reports a house was on fire.<\/p>\n

A short time later, the home’s 91-year-old owner and sole occupant alerted the officer that his dog was trapped on the front veranda.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said the Blackbutt officer, without hesitation, climbed over a railing and on to the verandah, safely retrieving the dog from the danger area.<\/p>\n

The dog was successfully reunited with her owner.<\/strong><\/p>\n

No serious injuries were reported and all emergency responders involved – and the chihuahua – were not injured.<\/p>\n

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.<\/p>\n
