{"id":372752,"date":"2026-06-01T22:13:32","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T12:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=372752"},"modified":"2026-06-01T22:13:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T12:13:32","slug":"phone-business-to-face-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2026\/06\/01\/phone-business-to-face-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Phone Business To Face Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>June 1, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Fair Work Ombudsman is taking legal action against the operator of two smartphone repair shops, located in Kingaroy and Toowoomba.<\/p>\n<p>Facing court are Fone Fix8 Qld Pty Ltd and the company\u2019s sole director, Trace Kevin Jones.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the regulator said investigations began after two workers, employed as retail assistants, requested help.<\/p>\n<p>One worker was employed at the Toowoomba outlet between April 2021 and January 2023, when he was aged 22 to 24.<\/p>\n<p>The other was employed at the Kingaroy outlet between May and December, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>A Fair Work Inspector gave a Compliance Notice to Fone Fix8 Qld Pty Ltd in October 2025 after forming a belief the company had underpaid the workers\u2019 entitlements.<\/p>\n<p>The Inspector believed the company had underpaid the workers\u2019 ordinary wage rates, overtime rates, minimum engagement pay, public holiday-related pay and leave entitlements.<\/p>\n<p>The Fair Work Ombudsman now alleges Fone Fix8 failed to comply with the Compliance Notice which required it to calculate and back pay the employees\u2019 entitlements and produce evidence of compliance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It will be alleged the total amount the company was required to pay was $35,053, which included $23,780 for the Toowoomba worker and $11,273 for the Kingaroy worker.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The entitlements were allegedly owed under the General Retail Industry Award 2020 and the Fair Work Act\u2019s National Employment Standards.<\/p>\n<p>The FWO is seeking a penalty in court for the alleged failure to comply with the Compliance Notice.<\/p>\n<p>The regulator is also seeking an order requiring the company comply with the Compliance Notice, including paying the alleged outstanding amounts to the employees, plus superannuation and interest.<\/p>\n<p>A directions hearing is scheduled for the Federal Court in Brisbane for August 14.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Fair Work Ombudsman is taking legal action against the operator of two smartphone repair shops, located in Kingaroy and Toowoomba.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":104807,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,3],"tags":[21],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
